                                     Spiritual Stillness Within

Question:  Why is my mind always talking and what is thinking?

Adonis:  You tell me, why your mind and everyone else’s mind is always making noise?  Is it that you have never really given it much thought?  How will you go into discovering the truth or falseness of your question?  Surely, you must look into what is thought.  When you discover how thought works and all that it consists of perhaps your answer will be found in that revelation.  Now, within our memory there is the storage of all the experiences of our own and those of all humanity before you.  From that storehouse come your thoughts.  For most of us, this coughing up of endless thoughts from our memory comes out of the desire for continuity and habit.  Do you understand what a habit is?  This endless movement of thought is a routine formed out of a lack of perception.  When you begin listening and watching your thoughts without any resistance or conclusiveness, then the very restlessness of the mind and its content may end without effort.

Question:  What is desire?

Adonis:  Desire is something we want and long for.  You do have things that you desire, correct?  You want pleasure without pain, and all the rest of it, right?  You want to know if there is such a thing called God, correct.  You want to be fulfilled, happy and free of loneliness like the rest of us, yes?  All that is desire, is it not?  Do not say it is right or wrong to have desires, what is important is to understand the core of desire.  As long as the mind is tethered by desire then we are not free, creative human beings.  When the mind is free of endless cravings, then you may find that which is the fulfillment of all desires.

Question:  What is this endless perception that you are pointing to so often?

Adonis:  I do not think the intellect can grasp that perception that I have been trying to point out.  I doubt if it can be pointed out from one to another.  You see, the totality of perception is beyond the body, mind and identity of a separative self.  As long as there is a perceiver then there is the spectacle that is divided from the spectator.  The self, with all its desires and fears prevent clear seeing.  For the wholeness of perception to enter your being, the mind must be still and completely quiet.  Then you will see what it means to live ones life holistically and detached of all things.

Question:  What does spirituality mean?

Adonis:  That depends on whom you ask.  If you are at all serious and not clouded by all the things that are said by those who perhaps knows nothing about such things, then maybe we can actually find out.  To be spiritual is to discover whether there is something truly sacred beyond the known.  Something that cannot be touched or corrupted by time and ignorance.  Now to discover something beyond myself I must be free.  Free of all that I know and believe.  When at once you are free of the known, then that which is beyond the known, the Unnamable, the Unknowable, comes without provocation or invitation.

Question:  Can we as human beings actually discover God and if so, how?

Adonis:  All of the religions of the world offers you a scheme to discover God if you are willing to fall for their concepts, beliefs and fears.  I think to be really honest and look at this question clearly, is to wonder whether there is such a thing called God.  To assume there is or isn’t such a thing as the Supreme is a fallacy.  Now before I can find out whether or not there is a source of all life, I must discover who I am and who this seeker of God is.  Therefore, only the stupefied human being seeks God, while the intelligent one asks; who is the seeker?  When you discover the seeker, who is asking such a thing as this, your answer will be found within the question.

Question:  Why is there so much hate in the world?

Adonis:  Surely, because there is no love, no compassion in the world.  As human beings, we are very selfish and self-centered.  We are divided within ourselves and this so-called outer world is the reflection of our inner world.  Being frustrated, full of problems and anxious about today and tomorrow, no wonder we are discontented and clouded by hate.

Question:  If I discovered God, would that change my outlook on life?

Adonis:  First, discover if there is the sacred source of all life and then see for yourself.  To speculate beforehand has no meaning.  The only thing you can do now concerning your question is to learn and understand the outlook of your life now and how you are actually living.  Surely, you are deeply in understanding your own life I suspect.  In all respect, to understand your self is a movement of self-knowing from moment to moment which opens the door to the real.  To watch and listen to the facts of your life is paramount if you are truly interested in awakening your spiritual life.
