The Ultimate Solution Of Spirituality
She is a young woman of Latin descent and her voice is pleasant to the ear, which made conversing with her a certain delight. She is attractive, social and openhearted to affection. At times, within her eyes there was deep sorrow. Her laughter was embracing and a natural part of her presence, perhaps as an escape from the realities of her life. We spoke frequently of spiritual matters and at a certain level; she had a desire to understand only on an analytical level that was rather limiting. The thing is, how can one teach another the art of being curious? She was aware that what we were to discover would require a complete change in her psyche, which she was deeply afraid of. Her attempt to capture that state of being in the ‘here and now’, escaped her grasp, which she viewed as an impossible task. To solve problems she preferred using cleverness rather than intelligence. Being clever and witty could give her quick results that she desired to control her life and those of others. She was not concerned that her means to an end is the result. The spiritual life that we spoke of is to be concerned with the wholeness of ones life, which she felt beyond her reach.
Spiritually awakening the living light within our being.
Like the rest of us, she placed a great amount of time and energy into a particular corner of her life, which consumed the whole scope of her way of thinking. Romance was the cornerstone of her world in which the rest of her life centered around. It was vital that romance, which seemed to come so easily in the lives of those near her that she had to have that as well. Time to achieve that way of life was not in sight and made her anxious most of the time. It was her endless pursuit of romance, which consumed her very being. In romanticism, she could escape into its illusions. She invested all that she had to control that part of her life, completely. However, her desired life was nowhere to be found in which time was her enemy. The constant and continuous change of life was an endless threat to the idea of a permanent relationship with another human being made her rather desperate. So, repeatedly her passions were replaced with its fears, anxieties and sorrows. She had a simple philosophy of her life, 'without the game of romance, what is the purpose of living?' Her wanting desires of being taken away from her sorrow, gave romance its great power and allure.
Spirituality beyond all sorrow of desire and pain.
Sorrow is the profit we gain when we invest ourselves in the pursuit of romance, sex and desires as escapes from the facts of our life. Our attempt to solve an inward sorrow with an outward means is delusional. Because we do not have that love within us, we look for it elsewhere. It is that chasing and clinging to a particular part of life that we have lost the perfume and beauty of the whole. Why have we turned our backs on the entire ocean for a single drop of water? We are drowning in that one-drop. That is the story of our lives. Why is it, we do not see the disintegration of this way of living? Why do we knowingly create a problem for ourselves today, only to later attempt to find a solution to the problem tomorrow? Like a dog chasing his tail, running away from his tail. In order not to need a cure tomorrow, why not prevent the disease, today? I am not saying, 'do not have a romantic life,' that would be absurd and has no meaning. Surely, you can understand the importance of being concerned with the totality of life. Intelligence is to be concerned with the wholeness of your life, which includes all aspects of living. Then you will see that everything has its proper place and time. When your life is in order, there is clarity and freedom. It is when your life is all encompassing, that you are learning and living intelligently in each moment. Spiritual wisdom is the ultimate solution to all our problems. It is that love, beauty and illumination that can solve all things within us and in the world.
