                                   Spiritual Sayings Of Insights

Question:  Your Sayings are interesting, but how do I know you are authentic?

Adonis:  You want to know if I am the genuine article.  How would you know that what I am saying is true, genuine and of the truth?  Actually, that is just the question to posit to your self.  Only by understanding and discovering the truth for yourself will you know the truth of another.  What is important is to not accept or reject what another says or thinks but to find out what is true for you.  After all, what is true for my life may not be true for you.  When you discover what is true and false in your life, then you may go further and find the real, the immortality of all life.

Question:  What do you mean by self-knowledge?

Adonis:  Understanding for oneself, by your self and not accepting or rejecting anything, no matter how true or false it may seem or feel.  Self-knowledge is to see and taste life for oneself and not embrace anything that is not your own realization.  Do not absorb anything that you have not digested through your own understanding.  In self-knowledge, there is aliveness in being aware of your self from moment to moment.  It is in effortless perception that we awaken to the truth of who and what we are.

Question:  How and when did you awaken to this knowledge of enlightenment?

Adonis:  That is just it; it is not a matter of accumulating knowledge.  For so many, in the search for the truth, seek knowledge as if it is going to lead them to the truth.  There is nothing further from the truth.  Now when you ask me such a question, I wonder if I told you whether it would make a difference.  What would you gain or grasp from such a question?  To awaken to the truth is not an attainment or progressive development.  It is to understand what you are, by simply looking and listening without resistance.  Then, suddenly without warning the self and all that you know, comes to an end, which is the beginning.  The awakening comes when you are not.

Question:  Are you afraid of dying?

Adonis:  Would you understand me if I told you there is no one in this body or mind to be afraid of anything?  I am fully aware that there is no one in this body that can be called, ‘me.’  Because there is no entity within me to die, how can there be fear of dying.  To understand this you must be completely free to look at the oneness of all life and go beyond the idea of self.  When you discover there is no ‘you’ then you see there is no death.

Question:  Why do you say, ‘renunciation is internal and not externalization?’

Adonis:  To be free of the world is not one going into the mountains, monasteries or some recluse location.  That is an escape away from understanding oneself and the world.  Renunciation does not belong to the one who is trying to become an island detached from humanity.  Renunciation is to understand the images and ideas you have carved of yourself and to be completely free of such illusion.  Renunciation is without effort because you cannot bring truth into being.  It is the very absence of you and all your desires, fears and obscurities.
