Spiritual Paradise In This World Of Sorrow
Question: What is life?
Adonis: The question that is given, what is life, is a very deep question that takes a great deal of insight. So before we go into this question, which is rather profound, let us penetrate the very depths of it. May I ask; have you ever held a question without the slightest desire of looking for an answer? Do you understand? Can you just listen to the question without any movement away from the question? Let the question itself awaken the inquiry.
Now, I wonder does life have meaning, purpose or a reason. Or is life ‘just is.’ And why are we constantly trying to turn life into what it is not? Would you like to talk about your lives or would you like to speak about the mystical to avoid the mundane?
Spiritual
Question: Why do you speak of being detached from material things?
Adonis: Do not assume that I am against you having the things you need and want. What is important to understand is your attachment to these things and your belief that you will find peace, happiness and security in those things.
After all, you have searched for happiness all your life through acquisitions such as luxurious homes, expensive cars, lucrative bank accounts, power positions in top corporations, romantic relationships, and so on. As such, you are thinking, if I acquire these things, they will bring happiness and security. Has it, are you genuinely happy? This formula for happiness, man has succumbed to for many years and has destroyed many lives. As long as you travel along these lines of thinking, you will be forever discontented. Have you ever asked yourself can happiness be attained by any means? Look into this so you may see the truth of what I am saying.
Do you know what it means to live in paradise? Not a fixed, imaginary place in the sky. Not a surrealistic mind, full of fancy ideas and dreams. To live ones’ life with keen sensitivity and watchfulness that doesn’t continue or cling to that which is experienced. As long as your life is full of sorrow and strife then that is your reality. So, we are asking, is there more to life than mere existence and if so, how do I go about living in such ecstasy. It is rather easy to deceive oneself and escape into some kind of fancy. But I am asking a rather fundamental question. Can the mind be free of sorrow and therefore awaken the fullness of life? I do not know if you have ever asked such a question. Perhaps you have and did not manage to get very far into the quest. So let us now go into it slowly, logically, subtly.
Many of the religions of the world speak of a heavenly realm and I am questioning if such a thing actually exist. And if so, I want to see it for myself and not depend on what others have said or believe. The mere words of another, no matter who they are, have no power over me. What is important is to discover truth within oneself. And perhaps, you will discover something truly sacred beyond the heavens.
