Spiritual Offering of Eternity
Do you not find it interesting, that the more I reach out to you, the further you run away?
Do you not find it fascinating, that the aspiration for you to see this brings suffering because I want you to 'see?' But you do not? Even in that I am free.
I offer you the living food of life and instead you say, ‘No, just tell me what it is like to be fulfilled.'
I offer you the glory beyond the furthest shore and you say, 'No, just tell me about the glorious sight beyond this life.'
I offer you the secret that transcends the ignorance of this torturous life and you say, 'No, let me stay in my ignorance and just come back and tell me what you see.'
I offer you the way out of the prison of this life and you say, 'No, just explain to me what it is like to be free.'
I offer you the door, which leads out of darkness, and you say, ‘No, just describe what it is like where there is no darkness.'
I offer you a beautiful flower that can never die and you say, 'No, just explicate in words what it looks like.’
I offer you the power of awakening and you say, 'No, let me sleep, just whisper in my ear what is this life that is beyond my dreams.'
You do not know this love within me. I cannot come back to the obscurity of this life, but you are there. Therefore, I am able to create the Sayings through my interactions with you and point the way out. Why is it you do not weep in great joy? Do you not understand that you are an integral part of my very being?
Listen, I will point it out to you with great clarity so you may have understanding. So please listen deeply to every word that I say and I will point it out to you. Now, if you wanted to learn how to swim, what would you do? Would you go for a walk, climb a tree, or stand on your head? All that would be rather absurd, right? If you were at all intelligent, you would get in the water and learn from there, correct? Not try to swim on dry land. You must get into the water and learn to swim. This may seem overly simplified but the error I see is in humanity being trapped and bound by ignorance. Surely, it is the same with spirituality. You must learn by doing. Actually, there is nothing for you to do. Simply listen, watch and let that effortless perception come into being which awakens intelligence within you. I cannot lead you to the real through false means. It is up to you to see through the facts of your life so that the transformation may come. When I speak, there is this clarity of seeing the facts of this life and that clear perception is complete movement, which is insight. I do not imagine the Sayings; they are not figments of my imagination. By interacting and relating with you, the Sayings come into being from the reflections of life in the silence of my being. I only reflect your life back to you so that you can actually see yourself, plain and simple.
Look, I am not dismayed or disappointed with anyone because they do not understand how simple this all is. So please understand my stand on that. I can only create the Sayings from the facts of seeing life. The fact is, you really do not understand. Now, do not fight the fact that you do not understand, that is the beginning. Learn the art of only moving with the facts. Do not torment yourself as if you are supposed to understand, when in fact you do not. See into the fact that you do not know and observe from there. Seeing and realizing you do not understand, stay with that fact. Do not try to move outside of that fact. In so doing, you are living in reality, which breeds aliveness. Then when you least expect it, the fact of 'not understanding' undergoes a revolutionary change. You see, only the actual can transform, not something non-actual. The non-actual does not exist!
That which I am saying is the art of changing with change. Dance with the facts of your life. What I mean is to flow with the facts of your life, without any business with ideas and suppositions, all that which is illusory and distraction from the facts.
To express it another way, let us say I am a Christian. To be a Christian there is an ideal person I am suppose to be or become. The ideal may be, do not drink, do not hate, do not lie, do not steal, I should do this and do that. Now these ideals, no matter how noble or moral you may think they are, may not be the facts of my life. Therefore, there is a gap between the fact of my life and the ideal life, which causes disparity and inconsistency within me.
Now, the fact is I am not the ideal person that I am trying to become or the world wants me to be. I am only what I am. So what is important, the ideal or what I am, actually? That which I am is fact, that which I am trying to become is non-fact, an illusion, an idea.
Now, put another way; let us say you are a hateful human being. (Not you personally, I am using this so you may see.) Christianity says you should be a peaceful human being. So, what is important, the idea of peace or the fact that I am hate? The hate of course because it is a fact of my life. Peace is only an idea. So in order for there to be a possibility for peace to come into my life actually, I must face the fact that I am hate. By seeing that I am hate, that direct perception affects the hate and dissolves it. Once that hate that I discover I am is dissolved and extinguished, actual peace, not the idealized peace that my hatefulness was projecting as peace, the real 'peace that passes all understanding,' comes into being. Do you see how simple this is?
