Spiritually, What Are You?
Are you a unique individual? What makes you someone special? Do you feel that you are special and unique? Each of us may feel that basically, we are different from others. Of course, there are different physical and psychological characteristics of us all. Realize that regardless of our age, race, sex or any other factor we may conceive to be separate one from another, the fact is we are all human beings and we all must face this thing called life.
Based on your outlook, this life can be full of beauty, contentment and love. Of course, that depends on how you perceive life. To understand this life, is to understand who you are. Have you ever asked yourself this question, who am I? On the other hand, what are you? What is the entity you call your self? Utilizing the process of thought and reasoning, can you discover the truth of what you are, or are such tasks beyond the capacity of the intellect? Is this one of the mysteries beyond human comprehension that we cannot grasp? Let us be diligent and find out, seriously.
Spiritual awakening comes from within you.
The consciousness of man consists of the so-called ego, subconscious, superconscious, thoughts, emotions, desires and anything else we call mind. When using the word consciousness, I am referencing the totality of the mind, ones whole head and being. What is important is this conscious self, which is controlling the psyche. What is the nature of the self and does this self actually exist on its own? To understand the nature of the self, we must watch how it comes into being as a resurrection of knowledge, its movement as a projection from the past into the present and its end, when the mind is empty, completely still. This self overshadows the present moment that prevents us from seeing the here and now. Only by the vanquishing of this self will you discover the truth of what you are. The ending of the self is death, which comes when the totality of perception comes into being. It is this self and all that it stands for, which darkens your life and prevents wholeness. This self is like a dark cloud that stands in the way of life. It must be understood so the brightness beyond the skies may shine through and illuminate your whole being.
Spiritual illumination is devoid of darkness.
Without knowledge, which is the very essence of the self, there is no self. It is the awakening of silence, which dissolves all knowledge and trace of a separate self within you. By the power of non-exclusive seeing, which is the integration of all the senses functioning holistically; that attentiveness transcends the known in which the self is dependent. In this silence and attentiveness, there is no mind, no knowledge and no self of any kind. It is only through self-knowledge that you discover the truth of this for yourself. There is only a complete void within. Like a single drop of water dissolving into the ocean, one becomes the whole ocean. When you realize this for yourself, who needs a teacher or anyone else? There is a total sense of immensity that comes as the fulfillment of life, which is incomprehensible. It is to live in the present moment, in that eternal presence beyond time. In this moment, you discover who you truly are. It is in this realization, the essence of freedom and the beauty of life awakens within you.
