-spiritual fulfillment beyond sorrow-
Ecstasy in Spirituality
Do you ever notice how so many of us are living our lives in avoidance and denial? We search and desire a life in which we have carved in our minds and in our ideals. Endlessly, reaching out to become something we are not. If one is of a particular religion, that religion requires that we adhere to certain standards and ways of living which breeds division and conflict. Within us and all around us, this division consumes and corrodes the heart of man. In Christianity the followers attempt to fulfill the image of their Christ. In Islam, the Muslim desires to be the likeness of their prophet Muhammad. And, if we are depressed we desire happiness. We are forever trying to be something other than what we are.
So I wonder why we live our whole lives in the desire of becoming something we are not. Without clarity and the seeing of ones life, how can we ever discover what is the true meaning and purpose of life. This image that we have of ourselves prevents us from seeing what we truly are. With such imagery, we seek comfort and fulfillment. So I ask; how an image which is not real to bring about reality? After all, an image of oneself is not ones true being.
Now, if you should look clearly, you will see the very ground of wisdom is to know thyself. And if you are forever trying to be something other than what you are, you will never know. So we must ponder; how do we get to know one self? How am I, as a human being to know myself, actually? None of the world religions can help me understand myself as I am. They all teach me how to be divided within and bring division and separation in this world. And with such division, they proclaim their unity all the while revealing their absurdity.
To understand yourself, you must observe without any kind of prejudice, every aspect of your life. How you act, how you walk, how you eat and so on. You must observe the facts of your life and discover why the mind formulates this imagery of self in the first place. In such observation without censorship, there is the movement of meditation. And this meditation without form can not be taught or cultivated by any means. In fact, calling it meditation has no meaning. The mind as thought can not grasp the essence of it. There is no technique or method to bring this about. It can only be lived and not formulated in the consciousness of man. Meditation without form is truly a sacred process that lets you see yourself as you truly are.
Spiritual fulfillment transcends this mortal life.
Out of ignorance the mind as thought has formed an image created by a lack of seeing and understanding. Being free of such ignorance is the true meaning of religiosity. Religion in its truest form is to seek the reality of life. It’s not about continuing in ignorance and avoiding the obvious. Such darkness breeds chaos in and around you. So what is important is to discover what you truly are so that you may live your life in abundance.
For most of us we move from one image of ourselves to another without ever finding out what we are. None of the religions of this world leads us to what we are. After all, truth does not have a path to follow. Only in the observation of ones life, are we are free. For as long as we do not know ourselves, we live in the darkness of that ignorance. Forever going from one religion to another. We move from one belief to another. Endlessly, inventing and trading one image of ourselves in pursuit of another.
Now, in the freedom of understanding yourself is there the realization of life in its pristine beauty and joy. When at once you die of all such ignorance, the flowering of goodness can manifest within you. And this goodness is not the outcome of your imagination or mental fabrication. It is the glory and perfume of love and the deepest elation.
So before we set out in search of the truth, we must first discover what we are. By looking within ourselves and not to others negates wasteful time. The urgency to discover what you are is rather pressing. To seek answers in the imagery of Jesus Christ or the Buddha or Muhammad is futile and rather childish. No one, living or dead, can awaken you to this truth. You must seek the truth within oneself. And in the pursuit of searching one discovers there is no such thing as the seeking of God. There is only the turning point of looking within oneself and discovering what you are.
Spirituality is to discover God for oneself.
So we ask; what is this seeker that is searching for God? Have you ever given it much thought? Out of ignorance, arrogance and vanity, we think we know. This seeker which is of the field of the known looks within the confinements of its own limitations, never realizing that truth is not to be found in his mind as memory. But, that is all one knows. That is the endless habit of our lives since birth. We must ask; what is this entity that I think I am that is going to come upon God? When at once you discover you can not discover God, all search for truth ceases. Not out of ignorance but out of understanding the futility of searching with an entity that is bound in time and trapped in the limitation of knowledge.
Truth is beyond time and knowledge. So the only action the self can make is to enter death by seeing it is a falsity. The seeing of this is the ending of the self-centered ego that you think you are. All such imagery is burnt away in the radiance of intelligence. In fact, the journey ends before it even begins. The seeker discovers he is not. When at once you discover this for yourself, the realization of the false is extinguished. It is an illusion of self that can never be real. This self is trapped in the past and can never enter the present moment in which the eternal lives.
Spiritual life is transcends all darkness and sorrow.
So to be spiritually free, one must observe and be vigilant from moment to moment. Be watchful and attentive so you may live in the here and now which is free of time, space and causation. You must learn to do away with all belief and opinion of yesterday and tomorrow. Let your heart live in the rapture of love beyond the field of time, knowledge and the darkness of sorrow.
In spirituality there is no darkness. This love is the light of all. It is in the present moment where sorrow can not enter. It is here in which the self can not come. In this moment, there is the door to the eternal glory that transcends this life. God is timeless. Truth is love and free of all sorrow. In this presence, there is unconditional love that nothing can destroy. This living joy, this living ecstasy within is the most precious thing of all.
