This Spiritual Earth
As long as the things of this world weigh you down you will never have the time and energy to enjoy the beauty of life and this planet we call earth. It is this wondrous planet we all live on which is not a dead thing but a living, magnificent phenomenon. In fact, it is one of the most precious things in the entire universe. This planet earth is truly sacred. It is complete order in perfect relationship to all the things in this galaxy. It is truly a great wonder. It is given light from the sun by day and immense splendor at night by the moon and stars. For it is on this planet earth that we live and have our being. It is here that our children must live out their lives. Therefore, it is very important that we care for it. This marvelous earth includes the whole universe, for it depends on the sun, the stars, the moon and all the heavenly things moving harmoniously.
Spirituality and the harmony of this beautiful earth.
Do you realize that this world is one thing and the earth is another? A spiritual human being is no friend to this world. He is a thin-skinned, sensitive human being, completely open with the abundance of love and compassion for the earth and all living and non-living things. To be sensitive to all there is, is to have a melody of love and kindness towards all things considered great and small. Clearly, I ask you, do you ever observe the beauty of this earth? Do you know what it means to have a complete dialogue with nature and its many wonders? Do you notice the vast lands stretching near and far? Have you ever noticed the multicolored leaves on the trees that stand in the steep valleys and distant hills? Have you ever observed the green plush landscapes of the terrain that seems endless with its essence of moisture glittering in the sunlight? Do you ever take in the majestic mountains that are truly breathtaking and inspiring? Do you ever wonder about the tumultuous rivers that flow across the lands? Do you ever feel the vastness of the deep blue oceans that cover so much of this immense earth? Have you ever listened to the crickets and the cicadas making their calling so early in the nightfall? Have you ever watched a frog sit perfectly still on a leaf in a tranquil pond? Have you ever watched a bird soaring high in the heavens without any concerns? Have you ever watched a passing cloud move across a silent sky? Have you ever sat quietly and watched a beautiful flower bloom right before your eyes? Have you ever smelled a rose in the freshness of the morning dew, just for the sake of it? Do you ever feel compassion for all the animals, from the greatest to the smallest creature that lives upon the earth? Have you ever been away and inwardly lost on the sandy beach watching a bright red sunset beyond the horizons? Have you ever marveled at the changing seasons of the year? Have you ever climbed an old tree to rest upon its branches just because? Have you ever stood in the falling rain feeling such joy of being carefree? Have you ever stood in the center of a shadowy forest just listening to your entire surroundings, letting your whole being become completely quiet, relaxed and still? Now and then, in the midst of the forest you may pay attention without any resistance to the sounds of the leaves blowing in the wind. Quietly, listening completely to the little creatures traversing the forest floor and the piercing sunlight shining in through the branches and leaves brings great delight. There is also the immense wonder in watching the squirrels playfully running throughout the trees with ease. If you do not see and understand the importance of such observations of nature, know that you are missing the essence of life. The awe of nature is lost in the eyes of man.
Spiritual beauty of this earth is a glorious wonder.
Surely, you can see the beauty of the earth when you learn to listen and observe without limitations. To experience the full magnitude and wonder of the earth is a part of living. This is what life is all about when you are sensitive, full of life and compassion. So I ask you, in light of all this, what is the relationship between humanity and this earth? What is man without nature and its life-giving essence? What is man without this earth? Of course, we are here to understand ourselves and cherish the things of the earth. Therefore, it is vital that each of us as human beings, question and explore every aspect of life. What is the meaning of searching for God, the Unknown, when we do not see or appreciate the magnificent things that are here for all to see? Truly, a spiritual human being is one who is perceptive and sensitive to all his surroundings. Do you really see and feel the colorful scenes of nature in which we live? It is truly splendid to behold, is it not? What more needs to be said? Understand that beauty is like an everlasting and sacred flower that can never wither away within you. In the full spiritual realization of this, you discover the beauty of life and the fulfillment of your heart an exquisite radiance, joy and ecstasy beyond all feelings.
