Spiritual Conversation Into The Divine Principle
This is a dialogue between Master Adonis and a long time associate who came to him in distress over her spiritual journey in relationship to her estranged husband.
Eve: Can we discuss spirituality? My husband avoids speaking to me about such things. I have been into spirituality all my life and want to go deeper.
Adonis: This spiritual journey is your ride alone. No one can come with you. Your husband and his way will not be your way. But, the two of you can still be together without one interfering with the other.
Eve: Well said. Currently, I want nothing but wisdom, power, understanding, love, peace and harmony.
Adonis: You feel that he is taking you for granted. It's like he just needs you there as a comforting blanket but he doesn't really see you.
Eve: Oh my God, I can't believe that you have picked up that vibe in me. I am trying to be these attributes and I want to apply them in my everyday life.
Adonis: Why concern yourself with the fear of being loved or not loved? When there is the perfume of love within, you do lean on another for such a thing.
Eve: I feel that he takes me for granted and I always tell him that he uses me because he makes me feel this way. But he doesn't see the real me and the value of me.
Adonis: That may not be his intention but nonetheless that is what you are feeling.
Eve: He only pretends to see it, when I am gone. Often, I pack all my things and just go. When I separate myself from him only then, all of a sudden I have value. So weird.
Adonis: He doesn't see you. Only the image he has of you.
Eve: But, I feel very used. In all aspects of the word.
Adonis: The real person he doesn't see. He is only looking at the image of you he has in his head. But the actual person, he doesn't see. The problem lies in ones perception.
Eve: It's not a good feeling. Exactly as I am telling you, he's going to lose me. And I tell him this all the time.
Adonis: When you tell him that you are going to leave, it may create fear in him that makes him react even more absurd.
Eve: I know. But, my intuition tells me that if there's no change, I will not be here for long. I see myself away from him. And it's a shame because life is beautiful. We have it all; happiness, money, home, good jobs and open sexual relations.
Adonis: Let what happens, happen. You can not force anything.
Eve: I live better here in Hawaii than when I was in Florida.
Adonis: When you have love, everything is beautiful.
Eve: What do you mean - everything is beautiful when you have love? Tell me what does that mean.
Adonis: Don't you understand that? You bring sunshine into everything and to everyone when you are full of love.
Eve: I see! That's so true. Like even at work, it’s rather funny because we have another company on our floor and there are like two hundred employees and I pretty much know everyone! I am very affectionate with everybody there. They love me. They say I brighten their day.
Adonis: You have that affect on others when your affection is sincere and not superficial.
Eve: I speak to everybody everywhere. A lot of them I know by name. I feel like I am love and only love. And that's all I can demonstrate. I love smiling and being friendly with everyone.
Adonis: To smile is very, very important.
Eve: And I love all. Whether it's a bird, a flower, the clouds, the grass I sit on. Even my neighbors.
Adonis: Yes, love is without choice. Not for some but all.
Eve: My husband tells me that I am crazy for knocking on people's door. But, I don't think so.
Adonis: You are very opened to people.
Eve: This I feel is what this world is missing. Humanitarian action is so important in this world. The world has no love. I want my actions to set the example to all.
Adonis: Yes, because darkness is increasing, exponentially. But most of us are cold, closed and insensitive. Will they notice or just see your actions and desire to only receive and not give? Will they learn by example?
Eve: Most people don't learn. But, I’ve learned that I need to be concerned with my actions and not others so much. For me, what’s important is what I do, not what others are doing.
Adonis: I understand. So that is all one can do. Let love act within oneself. Be fully responsible for your own actions. We all must be responsible for our own actions.
Eve: I feel bothered at times with my husband because it's not my nature to create enemies. And at the same time, deep within me, I feel at ease because there is this peace and quietude.
Adonis: What he thinks about you is his own predicament.
Eve: I strongly believe that two wrongs don't make a right.
Adonis: There is no such thing as right and wrong until you break something down according to a particular view. Then you love without distinction and leave it at that irrespective of his reactions. Have no desire for reciprocation of any kind. Then there is charity.
Eve: What does irrespective means? And why do you say there is charity?
Adonis: It means it doesn't matter what the other does or doesn’t do. Let love act. Charity is there when you do not concern yourself with anything in return. In truth there is no right and wrong. Right and wrong are all relative terms.
Eve: That's me! I do things for others without expecting anything in return. I feel the universe will give me what's for me.
Adonis: You did what was in your heart and that is true under all conditions.
Eve: Correct. But, what do you mean when you say there's no wrong that it’s all relative?
Adonis: Take killing for instance. Some will say it is wrong. But, then when it comes to criminal justice they say it’s alright.
Eve: Many justify that.
Adonis: To kill for personal reasons, many say it is wrong. To kill in war, many say it is right. It is up to each of us to discover the truth for ourselves so that no one can persuade us according to their beliefs, ideas and propaganda.
Eve: See reality without influence.
Adonis: If you are influenced then it isn't self-knowledge. Self-knowledge means to see for oneself and not depend on another’s ideas, words, or beliefs.
Eve: Yes. That's the real essence of life. Seeing things without the influence or ideas of others.
Adonis: We must discover every facet of life for ourselves.
Eve: Not because someone else tells us. Like when we were children and our parents are in control telling us what is life.
Adonis: We must act according to what we fully understand. Many want us to accept their point of view on their grounds, simply because they say so. We must see the truth ourselves. Like with your husband, you can't force him to climb the mountain within.
Eve: It's our responsibility, even though many don't see it that way.
Adonis: Let no one arrest your own development.
Eve: And if they do see it they don't want to accept it. I really understand what you mean clearly when you say don't let anyone stop my development.
Adonis: Do not pause, do not stop for anyone! You must continue to climb without looking back until you reach the mountain top and go beyond. Do not think it is a selfish endeavor. Because to awaken to the truth benefits the whole of mankind greater so than any other thing.
Eve: My husband is always trying to stop me from spending time with myself. Every time I tell him I’m going to the beach to read and spend alone time with myself he criticizes me.
Adonis: An awaken Being in the world affects the whole of humanity, profoundly. It’s up to you to see the importance of awakening.
Eve: That's why I get annoyed when my husband chides me with, 'Oh, baby you're going into your world now.' I tell him leave me in my world. It's working for me and making me a better person. I don't stop! I don't care what he has to say.
Adonis: of course, others are going to try to impede you. Some consciously will do so others unconsciously so. They are stuck in this world, if you free yourself of it, you will be a great danger to their darkness.
Eve: It's wonderful and such a fulfilling feeling when one knows the truth of life.
Adonis: It isn't a matter of knowledge. Truth transcends knowledge.
Eve: What do you mean? You're very deep.
Adonis: Truth is not a matter of accumulating knowledge. It is to live in silence.
Eve: Knowledge belongs to the self?
Adonis: The self is composed of knowledge, I am silence. Knowledge is of the self and all its noise. So now let's take a walk within.
Eve: Alright. Let's go.
Adonis: Good. Now, if I said to you give me a cup of water. What would you do?
Eve: Get up and go get you a cup of water.
Adonis: Slowly, step by step, walk me through it.
Eve: Alright.
Adonis: You would first stand up, yes?
Eve: Yes
Adonis: Then what?
Eve: Walk over to the kitchen.
Adonis: How would you get to the kitchen?
Eve: Open the cabinet door and get a glass.
Adonis: Slower.
Eve: I would walk to the kitchen.
Adonis: There is space for you to walk over to the kitchen.
Eve: Space?
Adonis: Yes, space in the room. Do you understand the use of space? Then what will you do?
Eve: I would walk out of my room. I would pass the hallway into the living room; pass the dining area in order to get to the kitchen. Then I would reach over...
Adonis: Wait. Just be aware of the things in the room and the space.
Eve: Please explain that.
Adonis: You need the space to go into the kitchen, right?
Eve: This is new to me. And yes, I would go into the kitchen.
Adonis: When you get to the kitchen, then what?
Eve: What do you mean by space? Are you going to explain later when I am done?
Adonis: Let us relax and just walk through this slowly, meticulously.
Eve: When I get to the kitchen, I reach over to open the cabinet to get a cup or a glass.
Adonis: Slowly watch it. The cup is in the cabinet. There has to be space for you to have the cup there.
Eve: Yes.
Eve: I'm a little puzzled.
Adonis: Then be puzzled and learn from there.
Eve: Patience.
Adonis: Let us not be anxious to get somewhere. Let me walk you through this. Do not anticipate or expect anything so you may see it for yourself.
Eve: I place the cup on the kitchen counter.
Adonis: Walk with me slowly, explain all you are doing. Why is the cup in the cabinet?
Eve: Cause that's where my cups and dishes are stored.
Adonis: Because there is space there, yes? You place it there because there is space, right?
Eve: Yes.
Adonis: When you pick up the cup it is empty, right?
Eve: Yes.
Adonis: So the usefulness of the cup is the emptiness? So, if the cup wasn't empty, did not have space, could you use it to give me water?
Eve: No.
Adonis: So now you go to the refrigerator and open it where you have the water. You can keep things in there because it has space, correct? So now you can pour the water into the cup because there is space. So space has meaning?
Eve: Yes.
Adonis: Which means that my perception must include not only the things in life but the space which is also a part of life, correct?
Eve: Yes.
Adonis: So now, my perception is holistic and total. There is nothing to be excluded. All is. So I watch everything without any resistance. Which also mean within me, I need space?
Eve: And that space comes by eliminating the self?
Adonis: Please, just walk with me. My head is full of noise, it is occupied. There is no room. As we discovered, the usefulness of a cup is in its emptiness. The emptiness, the space makes it useful and functional. I must see that the occupied brain is detrimental. So we see clearly, not because I say so, but we see the importance of emptiness within and around me. Basically, we need space. As long as my head is full of noise and restlessness there is no peace in me. Surely, you can understand the necessity to be empty of all the things of ones consciousness.
Eve: Yes.
Adonis: As long as my head is full; how can I utilize it sufficiently? I must see this clearly. And when I see this clearly, my head must come to a full stop, empty its content, completely.
Eve: I understand.
Adonis: There has to be emptiness within. Then there is the full watchfulness of heart and mind. Then quietness comes without effort. I do not invite the silence. The silence comes when I see the absurdity of having a noisy brain. So my brain being full of noise can’t let in the living silence. Because it doesn't know what silence is. But, when it truly looks at the noise it is making, realizes the meaninglessness of making noise, it stops.
Eve: I see.
Adonis: The brain full of noise does not know what silence is. It imagines it but that is a false projection of noise. Like darkness trying to imagine what is light. The darkness must end for the light to enter. So I simply listen and observe my thoughts and emotions without interfering. Without judging or condemning. Let it all flow and when I least expect it something happens of its own accord, effortlessly. Are you listening? Are you observing?
Eve: Yes.
Adonis: Now listening and being aware of everything in the room, including the space, the beating of your heart and your breathing, simply observe it all. Just letting life move without conscious interference. Is this meditation without effort? There is nothing for you to do and that is the beauty of it all.
So when you get into your car, you notice not only the car but the space inside the car which makes it useful, correct.
Eve: Yes.
Adonis: In your purse where you store your things, there is space.
Eve: Yes.
Adonis: And when you give me that cup of water and I drink it there is space in my mouth to receive the water. And when you take a deep breathe you notice there is space inside your body for you to inhale and take in oxygen.
Eve: Yes.
Adonis: When you are alone in the forest or on the beach you also notice there is space all around you. So, it is clearly understood that external space is needed to have ones being in this life. Like so, one needs vast space within. It is vital so one may function, orderly. There is space before your thoughts, during your thoughts and after your thoughts. So one asks, what comes about when there are no thoughts. You understand?
Eve: Yes.
Adonis: Now when there is silence there is endless space. Then you can truly understand that without sufficient space within there is no seeing clearly. The brain becomes distorted and confused when there is not sufficient space. It is like having a cluttered room that makes living in it a great mess.
Eve: Can we finish this later? It is very deep insight. I am getting tired and all this makes my head hurt.
Adonis: This takes place because it is new to you; that is all. It is really very simple. Just my words are opening silence within you and the noise within you must flee.
Eve: Yes I agree. I see what you mean when you say space is necessary. I have learned something new. And I will love to continue our discussion. Alright, I am relating to your Sayings. It makes perfect sense. Thank you for everything. Aloha.
Adonis: Goodnight.
