                                           What Is Religion?

"A religious human being does not have a religion."

I am going to touch on a subject that invokes much feeling and emotions.  I am going to examine a particular thing that has caused so much chaos and confusion throughout the world for many centuries.  In the disguise of bringing unity to man, religion with all its division, has created much conflict and inhumanity to all mankind.

In this world and in this life we have formulated various paths proclaiming it is the only way to God, exclusively.  Even without knowing this for ourselves, we do not even know if there is such a thing as God.  Each particular religion proclaims full authority over its members according to its own self-interests.  If one is a Christian, he adheres himself to the ideals of the Christ.  If one claims to be Islamic, he convicts himself to be of Muhammad.  And those who cling to Buddhism, he clings to the tenets laid out by the Buddha.  And so, each one proselytizing they have the method, the formulation that leads to the Truth.  Now, if we are at all intelligent, we are willing to look and examine the truth or falseness of such claims.  One wonders was the founders of such religions actually proclaimed divinity above all others.  Or did their followers misconstrue their way of pointing.  We must doubt the words of others at all cost.  We must look for the truth within ourselves and not depend on another for the truth.  We must doubt rather or not a fixed and definite path to that which is living has any meaning.  Can Truth, which is the unknown, be found by following a particular pattern within the known?  That which is dead, you may form a pattern or map out a plan to lead others to it.  But, like a river, truth is not a static fixed thing in the field of time-space and causation.

Spiritual Fulfillment Transcends Meditation

So, the ground of all religions is but a fabrication of man's own projection.  You must question rather or not god created man or did man invent god.  As long as one does not discover for himself, what is truth, he has no means of knowing.  A belief or a faith is a movement of ignorance.  To be intelligent is to find out what is truth.  To depend on another's words through hearsay has no meaning.  For truth is life in its pristine glory.  There is nothing that can come to it through any false means.

When at once you see clearly, the door to the eternal is open within you.  Then you will discover for yourself, a religious human being does not have a religion.  To be religious or spiritual is to be full of life and understanding.  Only in the here and now the eternal awakens within you.  And this comes through knowing oneself.

Spirituality is the wisdom that begins in the discovery of what you are.  Which means religiosity is to free yourself of all superficialities.  Therefore, let go of the known so the truth may come to you.  This sacredness within is beyond mind and imagination.  One can only get out of the way for the manifestation.

Why invent God according to your own fancy?  That is to live in delusion.  Open the door of your being and see the real for yourself.  Then you will know what it means to be religious for yourself.  Then you will know what it means to be spiritual and no one will be able to blind you again.
