There Is No Meditation
Have you ever wondered, why do we think and what is thought? Because there is such great chaos within our inner world of thought and the emotions, there is brutality and disorder in the outer world. Therefore, I inquire into what is it that can change and bring order into our personal and impersonal life. If my thoughts are filled with disorder, my life is disorder. That is rather obvious, is it not?
Perhaps, since the beginning of history, man has wondered is there something beyond his everyday consciousness. Now, without understanding oneself, how can we understand or discover anything beyond our limited view of thought? Is it possible or impossible to discover the new, the sacred? My consciousness is forever old, trapped in experiences as memory, how can I awaken to something completely new, the unknown? How can one leap from the known to the unknown? If there is such a thing as the unknown, how do I go about actually finding out? Can one see beyond the known? If so, how do I go about bringing that into being?
Together we are going to go on a great journey to discover the furthest shore, the source of all things. Now, before we venture out on this journey within, what is the entity in you that is going on such an expedition? What is the 'self?' Please, do see the beauty in this question; it is truly a delight just to inquire into this for oneself.
Spiritual Meditation transcends all forms of meditation.
Now, what I am going to do is go into something called meditation. The dictionary defines meditation as the reflecting and pondering of the mind. That is a rather crude definition that I doubt really expresses the essence of meditation. In addition, to go further, I must say that meditation is much more than this. It is not what you may or may not think it is. It has nothing to do with man becoming something other than what he is. So let me go deeper into this so that you may see this for yourself. Meditation is stillness in movement. It is the art of seeing life clearly, holistically. As long as the 'I-self' is trying to meditate, it is not. It is simply doing something ‘about’ meditation. To be honest, I do not meditate. I am very serious. For me, there is no meditation. Any attempt to meditate is a denial of it. Meditation is an effortless and complete action devoid of the ‘self’ and its desires of intervention. Any action on your part is not meditation. Your actions are the denunciation of it. The secret is, there is nothing for you to do. The ending of you is the creation of meditation. Do see and understand the significance of what I am conveying. Meditation is the essence of negation. So please listen closely. Now to me, meditation is the very ending of the 'self' without suppression, distortion or the desire to be something other than what you are. It is to see yourself just as you are without the desire of becoming or not becoming. There is no motive in meditation, nothing to be gained or lost from it. It is total negation of all things.
Spiritual Meditation comes of its own accord.
In meditation, all motives and desires are vanquished. Especially, the ridiculous idea of reaching something called enlightenment, whatever that is. Meditation is one of the most sacred of all things. It is the door in which you may unlock within yourself that opens to the beyond. There is nothing anyone can do for you regarding meditation. It is not a toy of thought, emotions or mind that you can play with. It is pure awareness that effortlessly ends the noise of the mind. There is this watchfulness of the movement of mind with a total awareness not of thought. This non-conclusive watchfulness points the way. This 'pathlessness' without limitations or borders of enclosure is just there.
Only a mind that is silent, free and without movement can be a temple in which the sacred may enter. It is in the emptiness of our consciousness that we are receptive to the Divine. Spiritual Meditation is the landscape of the holy ground in which all life springs into being. Meditation burns away the weeds of hate, bitterness, anger and chaos. This fire extinguishes all darkness that blocks the natural flow. In spiritual meditation, there is the awakening of love, beauty and the compassion that transcends this life, effortlessly.
