Adonis Alexander was born on February 22, 1964 to Black American parents in the United States.  He was raised in South Florida and has lived there for most of his life.  By the age of seven, he began to undergo strange awakenings of silence within.  Often he would be found sitting in the living room completely still without saying a word, detached from his surrounding.  This silent presence remains with him to this day in which all his Sayings spring forth.

As a close friend of Adonis, what can I say about him that could explain the vacuity of his persona to another?  Most of the time, we are always joking, laughing and overjoyed.  Then, whenever he is in his teaching mode, he is very serious, intense and uncompromising.  He is one of the most unassuming human beings you would ever want to meet.  Like a curious child, he questions everything.  At times, you could feel the vastness of his curiosity, perception and the depth of his knowledge.  He is not the ideal prototype of a philosopher, preacher or savior.  He is rather sensible, realistic and very much an ordinary, everyday individual.  He is not this holier than thou pretentious person.   Unlike the religions of the world, when he speaks of spirituality he does not make you feel guilty or afraid of life and death.

There is this quality and insightfulness in his Sayings in which you feel he is speaking from his own experiences and not from any scriptural knowledge.  In fact, he is very radical in his words and actions.  He is deeply challenging and very much in touch with spiritual development.  His only concern is for each of us as human beings to discover the truth for oneself, within oneself.  He is a firm advocate in that one needs to look no further than inside their ‘quiet’ selves to discover what is beyond this life.  All you need is the essence of silence, not from the world around you, but from the world inside your very being.

He is a sensitive, magnanimous man who is not materialistic at all.  Actually, he is the greatest friend.  Even though he is fully aware and very much in touch with this world and its intricate movement, he is above it all.  In fact, he possesses nothing and yet he is the richest man I have ever known!
